This article is about the senate of California recently approving an extension on the tax credit for the film and television industry. The extension was set until the end 2015. The program was established in 2009 to halt the departure of production from California to Canadian territory that have strong inspirations through televisions series and such as films. I chose this article because it informs me as a film student and possibly a future film maker that in the state of California there are laws for the film industry. Who knew ! It really caught my eye because I didn't know that in the film industry there was a tax credit. It was shocking to me that they would have to vote for it and have to wait to see if it actually becomes a law until 2015. This makes an impact as a student because we are being informed about the different laws due to different industries. Also, this makes an impact on us as future film makers because we will be aware later on that there are certain laws or extension that we need to be aware of in the industry. My only question would be what happens if this extension isn't made into a law what will the future of all these television series and movies be ?

I agree with Erika because I didn't know that there was a tax credit. This information is very useful because you are having a idea of whats going to happen in the future. Now all we have to do is wait and see if it actually becomes a law.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Erika because I didn't know either that there was a tax credit, this is very important, because this won't effect anybody but us in the future. I'm glad this article is out there so we are informed about what is happening in the film industry.
ReplyDeleteYeah it's not shocking that there would by a tax credit towards the film industry, but I didn't know either. I just wonder how much it really impacts the industry.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I didn't think there would be tax credits. This is good though, because we will be aware later on that there are certain laws or extension that we need to be aware of in the industry like you said.
